Boop-Oop-a-Doop! Meet Betty Boop! This boop-ilicious 5-year old came to us from local animal control after being found as a morbidly obese stray early in the summer and we suspect she may be a Patterdale Terrier mix. She has worked hard to lose 12 pounds of extra weight and still has at least 5 pounds to go on her weight loss journey, and she hasn’t complained about her diet even once.
Betty is loyal, eager to please, fun loving, and so, so affectionate. As the weight has come off, she has been thrilled to increase her activity and enjoy all that life has to offer. She is fantastic on-leash for daily walks and loves to play ball (at her speed…not necessarily full throttle). But Betty’s favorite pastime is just being close to where her people are. She is a woman who knows what she wants and is happy to maneuver her favorite blanket to wherever you are and settle right down, even if it’s the middle of the kitchen. This animated pup is full of heart and content to keep herself busy with a toy. She loves soft toys, but might shred some (uh, because that’s kind-of the point).
Do you need an adorable button nose to boop? Betty is your girl! Our Queen of Cartoons is the most perfect combination of girlishness and maturity (in black & white or color) and will gladly sleep nestled in bed with her head on the pillow like a human. Betty completely ignores the cat in her foster home and has enjoyed appropriately interacting with all the dogs she has met. She is a blend of childishness and sophistication, with her fun-loving nature and more mature age. She is mostly mellow but gets excited during some daily transitions (i.e. someone coming home or even getting ready for bed) as a stress response to being in a new place, but is feeling more secure every day. Betty is a resilient and free spirit who is playful, bonds hard with her humans, and gets the most adorable look of pure bliss on her face when she is being pet and loved on. Because of her lack of history, older kids would be best for Betty.
Betty Boop’s top 3 priorities: 1. Someone who will let her be close to them always (on furniture/sleep in bed). 2. Someone who will be patient with her isolated jumping/excitability during her transition to a new home. 3. Someone who will adore, dote on, and pamper her like the absolute QUEEN that she is!

The cost only rises if a deserving dog needs any additional vetting, and even simple appointments add up fast. While our adoption fees are intentionally lower to find great homes more quickly, we will gladly and graciously take additional donations to help offset these fees!
