Meet Butch! This 13-years young apricot-colored senior pitizen came to us from local animal control after his owner passed away and he is AMAZING! We took one look at this senior gem and knew he needed to be in a home. When Butch entered our rescue, he was clearly traumatized by the events that had transpired in his stable life and was completely shut down. But it didn’t take long for us to see the light in his eyes as he got his footing in his foster home and realized he was safe. In fact, this golden ager has the sweetest golden eyes and the best smile, and we have worked to get him 100% vetted and feeling his best, thanks to a generous grant from Grey Muzzle Association.
Butch is a mature gentleman and has charmed everyone he has met with his docile nature and resilience. He is a big boy who joyfully breaks into a (short-lived) gallop when excited and loves getting scratched behind the ears. And the way he rolls around on a sunny patch of lawn…we figure he must have been a professional in a past life. Old-timers are the best! Butch is 100% house trained, sleeps through the night, chews only his toys, and has limited demands. He just needs someone that will take a chance on him and give him a warm and comfortable home to call his own for all of his days. Due to his age, and the aches and pains of being an aging adult, older or no kids would be best for this special and distinguished soul.
Butch’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who lets him live out all of his retirement days doing EXACTLY what he wants…inside and out! He would love a fenced-in yard or secure deck with a great sun spot for lounging. 2. A family who will love and cherish this sweet soul after all that he has been through to make him feel safe. 3. A family dedicated to semi-annual senior vet appointments to make sure Butch lives his best life for all of his days.

Note: We spend well over $500 on the average intact adult dog coming into our rescue, which covers all standard vetting including spay/neuter, equipment, food, and preventative care while with us. The cost only rises if a deserving dog needs any additional vetting, and even simple appointments add up fast. While our adoption fees are intentionally lower to find great homes more quickly, we will gladly and graciously take additional donations to help offset these fees!
